My journey in life began in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and continued in Munich, Germany, throughout school and university studies. I came to Canada in 1969 and have lived in Ottawa ever since. My interest in the arts, expressed in photography, sketching and painting, has been a life long passion. However, after retiring from the telecommunications business in 1993, painting became a full-time occupation.
I love the challenges of watercolour as a spontaneous yet demanding medium, preferring to paint both landscapes and flowers “en plein air”. This combines well with my love of observing nature. In the studio I create more abstract and still life paintings and sketches in watercolour pencils.
I am an elected Fellow of the Ottawa Watercolour Society, and currently the Newsletter Editor of the East Central Ontario Art Association. I was an active member of Art Lending of Ottawa for many years, until 2012.
My work has been accepted in juried shows in numerous Ontario venues. My paintings have been sold to homes in Ontario, Quebec, Germany, Austria, England, Scotland, Florida and California.
