My approach in the studio
Painting in the studio is a quite different from working outdoors.
The subject could be anything – still life of flowers, glasses, dishes, keepsakes and favourite objects, or abstract designs derived from free flow splashes, runs, scatter and more.
I use many both “tried and true” or experimental methods: such as watercolours mixed with inks, crayons, pastels or collages of watercolour papers cut into free form shapes. In essence, “the sky is the limit”.
There is, however, a connection to the water colour medium, which I love for its transparency, spontaneity and pure glorious colours.
And of course, within all this freedom, I still must be concerned with design, balance and composition in order to achieve a worthwhile painting.
